How to write a skills section (with proof)

A credible skills section is short, grouped, and backed by experience bullets. It should help scanning — not replace evidence.

Recommended format

  • • Languages: TypeScript, Python, SQL
  • • Backend: Node.js, REST, GraphQL, Postgres
  • • Cloud/Infra: AWS (Lambda, S3), Docker, CI/CD
  • • Data: Airflow, BigQuery, dbt

Make it believable

  • • Prefer skills that appear in your bullets (proof)
  • • Avoid long, ungrouped lists (hard to scan)
  • • Use the job description language where accurate
  • • Remove “beginner” skills unless required for the role
